I've decided to get an Iwata revolution pistol grip style airbrush but need some advice on choosing nozzle size. Here are the different airbrushes: The Revolution TR1 with 0.3mm nozzle and the Revolution TR2 with 0.5mm nozzle.  Iwata also has a 0.2mm brush but I don't think it's available here in the states. I don't have an airbrush now. I've basically been brush painting thinned paints or rattle cans for years and decided to jump up. My wife does a lot of crafting and so I decided I could justify the expense of the Revolution TR as she would be using it also. Also, my hands take a beating at work and it is kind of rough when I've tried using a standard airbrush. I mostly build 1/35 armor and 1/48 aircraft.

The choice between the two is completely a personal preference.

The Iwata HP-CS 0.35 mm needle is a popular choice among modelers. Even the 0.35 mm needle can get tip dry problem now and then if the paint is not thinned enough. This is what I am using. It is similar to the TR1 nozzle size. It should work veryw well with 1/35 armor and 1/48 aircraft.

Some prefer the 0.5 mm needle of the Iwata Revolution series (same as TR2) which have 2 times the nozzle openning area of the CS and allow a shorter and faster trigger pull when more paint is needed. The finer 0.2 mm needle is more for artist use. But you MAY like the finer nozzle if you do a lot of free-hand painting in modeling.
