Tom, please don't ask me why I tried a dulcote rather than a semi-gloss or satin finish.  I'm sure I would have gotten better results from that instead.  It must have been too many days with the cap off the glue.  LOL!

Gerald, thanks for the info!  I never would have thought about the wet cotton ball trick.  I'll give that one a try.  Also, thanks for the info about being able to put the sealer on after the decals have been applied.  I've never used the metalizer sealers before so I wasn't sure what the correct order of doing things was.

Take a cotton ball dampened with water...you should be able to ease the sheen back a bit. I'd put the decals on first before sealing the surface. You can seal with Future or any other sealer of your choice.

Have you tried a semi-gloss instead of a dullcoat?

Your thoughts on using metalizer sealers?

Hi guys!

I just finished applying the finish to a natural metal P-51.  I laid down a gloss white base coat with some of the panels picked out in gloss black.  I then applied some SnJ metal powder.  I'm happy with the result but I'm thinking it's leaning a bit on the "almost too mirror-like" side.  It's not bad but....

Anyway, I was wondering what would it do to the finish if I were to apply a metalizer sealer?  I once applied a dulcote over a natural metal finish and the silver went from being shiny to almost a dull grey!  Ugh!  I don't want that to happen again.  I don't mind of the shininess of my finish is reduced a wee bit but I don't want it gone altogether.

Also, IF I were to apply it, should I apply it before or after the decals are applied?

Thank you!

Eric
