Vallejo Game Colour
Posted by Postal on Thursday, October 1, 2009 2:06 AM

Hi Guys,

I'm new around here and to the world of model aircraft painting, hoping I can pickup some great information on these forums.  I will be focusing on 1:48 scale WWII aircraft, love the size, love the era.  As for equipment I have a Iwata HP-C+ and am currently looking at compressors (thinking Sparmax 500) as I can source is locally without too much trouble.  Here is my question will I be able to use my Vallejo game colour paints as I have the whole set almost new and it would be a shame to have to buy another range of paints.  Also what is your opinion on this hardware setup.

thanks in advance!

I use Vallejo as well with my HP-CS.  I have had no problems with them at all.  Just thin with water. I nomrally use alchool but 9/10 time it will turn Vallejo in to as nasty mess.  Windex will them them as well.

I haven't used the Game color ramge myself, but I have used the Model Color range (both brushed and airbrushed) without any problems.

There's no particular reason to say that your Game Color paints won't work, apart from perhaps some colour matching issues. You may need to thin them considerably for airbrushing, and finding the right mix may be a matter of experimentation, but they should be fine for "general" model use.
