Humbrol/Revell Paint tins

I use humbrol extensively and I can tell you that I use a Q-tip before every time the tin is closed.

I have a small cup of them cut in half, and just wipe around and throw it in the pail.

You have to do this EVERY time even though its a pain in the _ _ _

 

but it works.......I also keep the tins upside down if I know they won't be used for a longer time.

I prefer the tamiya myself these days, followed by GS for water based or testors/ testors mm in oil based, but sometimes one has to resort to what one can get, and in Tazmania the often means humbrol tins. (nothing against humbrol paints themselves just the tins)

 

As for stiring I usually use cut off spru but I might try the mechanical idea of yours

I've never used those particular paints, being a MM person myself, but I don't ever shake the bottles anymore. I use a battery op stirring device I made from a motor and batt holder I found at Radio Shack. This keeps the muck off the bottom of the lid and threads and I carefully wipe everything after every use. (No shaking also keeps dried paint flakes out of the paint.)

Now why didnt I think of that? Prolly cause I kid when I started, and always preferred bottles.

OK other than a knife any recommends for cleaning up the tins/lids already having issues?

 

Clean them up with a tissue before re-sealing them.
