New and dont have a Clue (paints and more)

Hey, little bit about me first, Im jamie I mainly put together gundam (gunpla) kits. All that i did was panel line them and thats it. I have master grades and recently bought 3 perfect grades and i want the pg's to look more realistic. So i said i want to do more. I then went out and bought a Iwata eclipse hp cs, some mr. hobby color, tamiya paint, testors dullcote spray and some model masters flat clear acrylic, some tamiya thinner for acrylic too, oh and i have a $100 craftsman compressor with regulator thats works.

Hoping i have everything i need all i want to do is pretty much spray on a dull, matte, flat coat (really dont know the correct term) and panel line with a ultra fine gundam marker.

Well what i did was spray testors dullcote (lacquer) onto model, let it dry, then went over it with a gundam marker. The marker really didnt even work. So i then tested on another piece i paneled first then dried then sprayed with testors dullcote (like a light mist coat) it made the panel marking bleed. So my conclusion is that whatever is in the two does not mix together.

Questions to anyone who knows the answer is What do i have to do to spray a dullcote and panel line using a black gundam marker.

What is this Future and base coat I have read about? (well mainly Future)

Also how much thinner should i mix with the acrylic paint when ready to use it?

I also read that Mr. hobby top coat (in blue spray can) works best because its a acrilyc too. idk though. but anyway thanks for just taking the time to read it i know its long and i did search a little before i posted all this.

First, Welcome!

Not sure what a Gundam marker is, but I'd remommend just putting a black or grey wash in the lines. Thin your paint with it's own thinner, about 80% thinner, 20% paint.

Future is a floor polish, by pledge. Look for Pledge floor shine. It's an acrylic cote. Tamiya paints can be sprayed with about 70 paint, 30 thinner ratio. Hope this helps

Id suggest not using the gundam markers, there not the best.  There specifily for the purpose of pannel linning.

Also, dont dullcoat the kit before hand

Take it out, build it without painting it, clean the seam lines and gaps, all of that.  Once your done with that prime the kit, with gray or white.  then paint over that

Oh yea, welcome.  Good to have more gundam builders here

hehe cussing the markers.

Well I do mainly use the markers for panel linning. Well I was wanting the internal frame to be more of a dullcoat rahter than shinny.

Even then, I suggest giving it a light coat of black or gray or whatever.  If your like the rest of us as you start you will want to detail every little bit of it.
