Yea, I hear ya. The CS is among my favorite for a general use airbrush. It was the easiest one to clean among all my Iwatas. I had one of my CS added with a crown cap, old CM-C color cup cap, trigger stop handle (recently tried the triple-action handle I got off of ebay but didn't like it) so I can finally put down my HP-C. The C+ actually has the 0.3mm nozzle like the old HP-C (New C's have a different tread size though, tried it...), which had been a long celebrated AB by modelers and artists alike since it really can just do about anything, including automotive lacquer. The C+'s nozzle is slightly more expensive than the CS's, but I guess if you can get to a hobby lobby, it ain't too bad of a thing. I happen to be one of those unfortunate ones that get stuck in Jersey..., where HL is too good of a fairy tale.

The CH is close enough to the C+ but if I kill the nozzle or needle on any of my ABs it'd cost half of what I paid for the eclipses just to replace those. The prices have gone up since when I got those ABs 4 years ago as well. Only paid like 140 for the CH or the BH and 60 for the CSes. With those said, take another look at ur needle chuck spring or else send the velocity back to Badger, who I am sure will do a good fix-up for you.

I just upgraded to an Iwata HP-CS (from a Paasche H) a year ago. It was the cheapest solution for me among the mid range name brands (Badger, Iwata and Paasche). None of Hobby Lobby, Michaels and LHS has the Badger 100LG or Paasche Talon in stock nor their replacement parts. I got the HP-CS for $97 at Hobby Lobby using the 40% off coupon and the 0.35 mm needle and nozzle can be had for less than $20 total, no shipping cost. All these are stocked items at HL.

I know that no every state has Hobby Lobby. If you have to mail order, the Badger and Paasche may be cheaper, but the difference is small. Even so, I found that the Iwata needle has a polished body and springiness that the other needles do not have. The trigger is tight yet very smooth. Also, the less than 0.2 mm nozzle/needle of the Badger Renegade and Iwata Plus are not a good match for most modeling paints. They are more suitable for water color or inks. The final choice of the airbrush is very personal. I believe that the Iwata HP-CS is among the top choice for modeling.

Dittoing what Mike said. If I didn't already have my fleet of iwata and tamiya ABs, I'd have gone and tried out the Velocity since it's been calling to me as soon as it was released. I mainly use my hp-CH and a fully upgraded eclipse CS when I model, with the rest just sitting there looking pretty. The CM-C+ or the hp-BH gets taken out for shading needs mostly just cuz I have them. HI GUYS just wondering has anyone here used a hpb plus or a hpc plus and can give me some pro's and con's THANKS

HI ALL ill give you the short version . i went to get out my renegade velocity and it was gunked up pretty good there was paint gunked around the trigger so i took it apart. took off the back so i could take out and clean the needle doing so the trigger came out. at this point i thought i might as well take it apart to clean the area around the trigger also took off the front piece so i could get to the tip to clean that area also NOW i put it back together and as soon as air gets to it it comes out WITHOUIT me touching the trigger PLEASE HELP THANKS ( I GUESS IT WASN'T THE SHORT VERSION ) THANKS

If you allowed your Renegade Velocity to "gunked" (whatever that means) up. The Iwata is not going to help you much. It is best to learn to take care of the Badger preperly first.

The Plus is overkill for modelling.  All you need is something to atomize paint, consistently.  Go for the Revolution BR.  It less than half the price and just as good, for what we use it for.  It's the brush I cut my teeth on, before moving to the Eclipse CS.

I haven't used one but in my opinion it is much too expensive for modeling.

The new Badger Renegade Velocity will outperform it for less money.
