Washing and dry brushing over flat acrylic
Posted by Robert92562 on Sunday, November 29, 2009 9:33 PM

I have a question about washing and dry brushing. I looking to do a wash over a drap olive acrylic.

Can i use an oil base paint over a flat acrylic? I'm looking to just highlight some bolts and seam's on a tank.

What color would work best just to show a slight weathering effect.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Bob

for drybrushing use the color steel on the bolts and seams you want to do

I use oil based washes over Tamiya flat acrylic all the time. Just make sure you use a very small brush, and don't deposit a lot. Better to do it in two to three layers. I use raw umber mixed with mineral spirits.

you can use an oil wash over flat acrylic, just make sure you take it slow. Unlike a oil wash over gloss coat which can be easily removed, its much tougher to remove a wash from flat paint.
