Hey gang,
I'm trying to replicate a particular finish, but I'm not sure if it's paint color or maybe something else. The color looks like steel, but more oily brown (in color, but a satin sheen). Think of old (like WWII) gun recievers - they're not quite black, but not quite brown. But it's not surface corrosion, more like the metal's been super-heated and it has a brownish patina to it.
The part I'm trying to replicate is in the inside part of a Jumo-004 engine in the Me-262. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal, but I'm doing a visible engine and I'm trying to match the colors. If I'm going to spend a month building the engines, they may as well be the right colors.
So, does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I tried looking for decent pics on the net, but I can't seem to find any now. The best picture I've come across is in the reference book I'm using Aero Detail no. 9.
Any paint suggestions or weathering tips to achieve that look would be greatly appreciated.
