Aztex AB Problem
Posted by Bill Clarke on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 4:02 PM

Merry Xmas to all,

I have a Aztec A430, had it for quite some years now, the problem is that when I insert the spray tip, the needle won't pull back as I pull back on the trigger, the trigger also feels loose, it wiggles in it's recess.

I clean it after every spray, using thinners, and pipe cleaners, I'm sure dried paint is not the poblem.

I thought it might  be the tip, so I put a brand new one in, same problem, I have found with the tips that you need to pull them apart to clean inside of the coloured housing, I generally soak them in acetone.

Any ideas guys ?

I had a heck of a time with my Aztek A480 airbrush, but never the problem you are having.  Until someone else has a better idea for you, you might want to peruse this website which will give you an internal breakdown of the airbrush, as well as some items that may be causing your problem.

A  couple of months ago my 430 quit flowing paint when I engaged the trigger, I e-mailed Testors with the problem and they told me to send it in and they would replace it with a brand new one with a trigger upgrade as the Aztecs have a lifetime gaurantee. Not only did I send it in for a new airbrush I included $10.00 and recieved a brand new A470. So Bill you might want to consider that option.

It sounds to me like there is a problem inside the body of the brush. What happens when you turn the needle adjustment dealie on the handle? Anything?

Ditto on the above post, definitely sounds like a problem inside the body. To be honest, I've been having a similar issue recently with mine. I actually get LESS paint flow now when I pull back on it. I don't know, I'm debating just retiring it.

My version doesn't have the wheel at the rear, I rang a hobby store that stocks them and they are going to replace it for me, so it's a 200km drive to there and back to drop off the old one and get the new one. Crying

When I needed mine replaced, I just dropped it in a box and mailed it back to Testors. Call ahead, and make sure your Hobby Shop will exchange it for you. Best case scenario, it could save you some fuel.

It may not be a problem with the body.  I had the same issue with mine and it was rthe needle, whaat hapopened was after cleaning the three pieces of the nozzle; when i inserted the needle back into the piece that holds it it was not sated properly.  whe i went to use the AB and screwed the head it it pushed the needle all the way forward and got stuck.  I had to remove the nozzle and disassemble and re-assemble and all was OK after that.
