Use Windex to clean, never to thin or reduce!

No, the stuff from your water filter is not the same as distilled or deionized. Distilled water is probably the cheapest reducing solvent you can buy—a gallon will last a long time, especially if you only use it for thinning. Use tap water for rinsing after cleaning with Windex, followed by a very small rinse with distilled.

There are home filtration systems that will provide you with deionized water. They cost ~$2000 installed…

                I think I will go with the $1.09 bottle of distilled water. $2000 is a little steep for thinning!!!! LOL!!!!

I would agree. Deionized water is a tad overboard.

A little trivia on this subject. Deionized water I was told, is so pure that you can dunk a laptop computer in it and it will not ruin the computer. A machine tech at a solar cell manufacturer that I works at sometimes told me that.

You make a good point there Ross as I have always used water out of my Brita water pitcher as well and have never had a problem nor have I seen any deposits on the airbrush from minerals that might have gotten through the filter. Some distilled water would definitely be worth the small cost it is to guarantee that the water was basically pure.
