I should probably have mentioned that although I have tins of Mr Surfacer for spot filling by brush, all my overall primer jobs have been by Mr Surfacer aero can.

I've used it but havent had the luck others have claimed. To try to avoid the cobwebs I was spraying with the stuff I thinned with lac thinner 50/50. The result was a better spray but the product dried to fast and was very grainy.I switched to Gunzes own thinner and had much better results, also 50/50.Today I don't spray it. For primer I use Tamiya extra fine and need not sand for smooth the final coat in any way.
I haven't airbrushed Mr Surfacer myself, so I have no direct experience, but previous discussions on the subject in this forum suggest thinning (with a suitable lacquer thinner) at least 30% or more. Insufficient thinning is said to result in a "cobwebbing" effect where it seems to spray in fine strings.
Yes, Mr Surfacer works well as a primer (good adhesion & smooth coat),
Yes, you can use it with enamels - it dries quickly & I usually have no problem overcoating with acrylic after about 1 hour,
Yes, PVA should be fine as a mask.
I am getting ready to airbrush Mr. Surfacer 1200. With that being said, I have heard of people utilizing Mr. Surfacer 1200 as a primer coat. Will I beable to apply enamel based paints, such as Testors Model Masters paints, to Mr. Surfacer 1200 once it has dried and cured after several days? Also, I have used elmers glue as a mask on some of my clear parts, will Mr. Surfacer 1200 damage the elmers glue? Any information will be greatly appreciated as this is being applied to a 1/35 MIL-8/17 HIP helicopter modified as a gunship version that was used in Afghanistan during the Russian occupation.
