Aztek nozzle help
Posted by Schitzengigles08 on Thursday, December 31, 2009 5:57 PM

Howdy all. I have a double action aztek, and despite running solvent and water through my airbrush after every bout of paint, my nozzles keep gumming up alarmingly quickly. The result is after a model or two the nozzles start spattering paint in globs and are generally uneven. Is there any way to deconstruct these nozzles and clean them effectively, or am I doomed to replacing them every other model? I have a Mustang III sitting on my bench now that needs a paint job....so advice would be appreciated!

When I had one I pulled the needles out of the nozzles and used eye droppers to force lac thinner through the nozzle. I also normally stored my nozzles in a jar filled with lacquer thinner.
These two kept the brush running for about six months rather well. Finally the thing went to a crap and nothing I did made it run right.
Good luck.

I've had mine for 12 months now, no problems except for a part lost down the sink....

While the manual says dont break it down, there is nothing wrong with doing it (cept doing it over the sink Embarrassed ). The tips should break down to three parts the outer shell, part, both plastic and depending the type of tip is if the needle is plastic or metal.

I just use a small container filled with applicable thinner and paintbrush to wash the parts until they are clean, dry careful and then slip the midle part into the out side and then needle in last (to undo remove the middle from outside then remove needle). As long as all is done with care its an unremarkable process. I do about every two to three weeks, or immediate if I stuff up and dont thin the paint enough (or wrong thinner).

Edit in - PS me bad, there is a spring that wraps right over the needle as well, remove this last when stripping , replace first when re building

Oh forgot to add, if your getting clogged the much/often you may want to think about thinning the paint a touch more
