Hi Mike,

Everything you need to know can be found in Matt Swam's article: The Complete Future

Matt Swan's The Complete Future is the place to go!

About half way down the page you get his ratio list:

Future does produce a glossy finish so many modelers will introduce a flattening material or only use it as a pre-decal sealer. If you wish to use flattened Future as a final coat here are a couple of suggested ratios of Tamiya flat base for different effects:
1 part flat base to 3 parts Future = very flat
1 part flat base to 10 parts Future = flat
1 part flat base to 15 parts Future = satin
If you get too much of anybody's flat base on the surface of your model you run the risk of making it all go white. No thinning is required just make sure it is well mixed.

So long folks!

Future & Flat Base
Posted by MikeS71 on Saturday, January 16, 2010 11:29 PM

I have seen things about this before but can't seem to find them...  I want to try mixing Tamiya flat base with future to get a semi-gloss finish as a final coat.  Till now I have been using the Tamiya Flat Clear rattlecan but I am not happy with it anymore- it's TOO flat.

Can anyone give me any tips on mixing ratios?  Maybe steer me to some resources?  I painted a sheet of styrene and plan to experiment some different ratios on there but I want to see if I can get a good starting point!  Thanks!
