I saw the article too and didn't learn much.   IMO, the best help have been from "Build Blogs" by people who post on this forum.

When I'm reading a model magazine, that's what I'm searching for whether or not it's FSM. An A-Z build guide. FSM should think about lifting a build blog (with permission of course), refine it, and printing it.

Frankly, I pick up more practical info in terms of technique in the forum, but it would have been nice to see some more practical info for the middle-of-the road modeler looking to refine some skills.

Just an opinion.

Swede,

What kind of airbrushing techniques would you like to see FSM cover?

Cheers, Aaron

Aaron,

You latest article is a very good basic. Even though a lot of this forum's reader may have outgrown it.

An earlier on needle polishing went the other extreme. I have heard about it, never try it. After reading your article, I don't believe I will try it anytime soon. Too difficult and too much risk on ruining the needle. (I still enjoy reading it.)

The readers will always be a mix of novice, weekend modeler and seasoned modeler. For each column, 2/3 on basic and 1/3 on advanced technique will not be bad.

An article on the importance of cleaning and basic cleaning tricks will be very useful. I have developed my procedure now, but it took years. I have seen that question asked over and over again.

Other basic may include proper hook up of the airbrush to compressor. Or thinning paints. Or adjusting pressure. How not to paint under the mask? (You will be amazed how often this was asked.)

The advanced user tends to have their own community, forum and friends for help.

Not so good, I am not a subscriber but do purchase occasional copies - one of which was going to be this issue - but possibly not now.

I know the magazine struggles between subjects that are appropriate to the masses, but I must say I was a little disappointed in this months feature article.  I am a novice when it comes to airbrushing so I was really anticipating this months magazine to see if I could pick up some more advanced tips to "Improve My Airbrushing".  Well, the article was really pretty basic and offered no real information on different techniques, applications, etc.  All I saw was some real basic info relative to identifying spray problems and then an over the top example of a 40 hour masking job on a spectacular camo paint scheme which frankly is way more than I am ever willing to attempt.

Frankly, I pick up more practical info in terms of technique in the forum, but it would have been nice to see some more practical info for the middle-of-the road modeler looking to refine some skills.
