thanks Triarius. Pardon my ignorance, but what is retarder ??? doc bailey

There are many paint retarders sold in art stores but in a pinch you could use some distilled water added to that 91% Iso alcohol.

Try about 5 to 10 percent distilled water to start, then increase by 5% increments. How much depends on the relative humidity in your work area. I generally try to maintain 50% relative humidity when painting. Forty percent is a minimum, and over 60 presents other problems.

Retarder is an additive that slows down the drying of the carrier / solvent, isopropyl alcohol in this case. Without retarder you may find that the paint dries before it even hits the styrene.

You may be OK without it, dependant on the environment your are painting in (humidity / temperature) - I would test shoot some paint off-subject to see if there are any issues before committing.
