one thing about Vallejo that I always forget to add,,,,,,,,there is a "primer" color in their little bottles,,,,,,,that is a paint that is the color of primer, maybe something to use when painting a body panel on an old half finished Hot Rod car

the real primers are in larger bottles,,,,,and come in many colors

here is the one I use

www.megahobby.com/200mlbottlegreyprimervallejopaint.aspx

you can find it cheaper by shopping around, I just grabbed the first link with an expandable image for you

Hokey  the times I tried  M M white and gray  primers  they just did not cover right. Did every thing as usual washed the model and stirred the primers.

Tarn Ship again thanks for the pointers, and  I do use total acrylics switched years ago  keeps the wife quiet about the smell and I can paint when I want don't have to worry if the grandkids are coming over.

MM doesn't make an Acrylic Primer in a spray can, that I am aware of,,,,,,,,,,,and some of us are locked into "all real Acrylic paints"

are the Ace NOW primers an Acrylic?,,,,,,,,,if so, I need to give them a try

Rex

*note, for modeling purposes with a health challenged person in the house, "real" Acrylics means no Lacquer or Enamel fumes or chemicals

i go to ace hardware and use the NOW cans at < $3.00US  for a big can. us eit to check seams and as a primer for acrylics. have had no problems until i get near the bottom and it gets a tad powdery. just shake it well and use that part of the can for armor. crack a new can for boats and planes.

Rex    Thanks for the tips. Tried thinning with alcohol that seemed to help some.

Will try mixing Future and when I get to the hobby I'll look for Vallejo gray primer.

Thanks again Dave

the quickest trick to using the MM Acrylic primers is to add some Future to your mix,,,,,,,or try some Golden Medium, # GAC 200

another way is to give your model a coat of straight Future, sand it with steel wool (to scratch it up), wash it clean, then spray a thin coat of MM primer over that

I just did a side by side by side test with MM primer over Future coat, MM+Future mix, and MM + Golden,,,,,,,,all three stood up to the "burnished Blue tape" rip off adhesion test

I still like the Vallejo large bottle gray primer mixed with Golden 200 better, though

This may have been asked before but in searching the forum I can't  seem to find the answer .

What is the trick to using Model Master gray and white acrylic primers. I generally  use Polly Scale zinc chrome primer with no problems.

In searching the forum other primers were mentioned so I have a few new things to think about.
