I agree with above poster. Sounds like you're spraying too close and too much paint on the kit - thus causing runs; ie: tiger stripes.

Strictly a guess, but if it resulted in a striped appearance, perhaps the AB was held too closely to the surface???? If held too close, the paint is likely to not have a uniform spray pattern and leaves stripes. If held too far away the pattern is spread out, but the paint can partially dry before going on the surface and you have a gritty uneven surface.

Suggestion, get some scrap plastic sheet, then experiment with pressure settings and distance from the surface. Let us know how it works, I'm interested in knowing.

Good luck with it.

I Alcad silver based my Kenworth body last week and decided to give it the top coat tonight.

I thought I had the airbrush figured out pretty decently until now. No matter how I tried I could not get an even coat of the Alcad Bottle Green. Now my Kenworth is rather tiger striped in green. And of course I didn't just stop at that, oh no not me, I had to try to even it out.. Ya....

So, I guess I'll wet sand it a little and go with a nice metallic color on top.

Maybe one day I'll get enough skill to do a candy color.
