Mission Models Paints?

This line is a recent arrival at a LHS. Has anybody here used them and can offer any feedback? The colors look very armor centric right now and offer several i have not seen but could certainly use. In other words they are quite tempting, but I would like to here of any and all firsthand experiences by any folks here.

Neither had I. But they have several colors that I could certainly use, and I read up on their site about them. But of course I would like to hear from actual users, as opposed to the seller.

Yes it's always prudent to get testimonials before venturing on to using an unfamiliar product.

I have some MMP USA Weathering Powders that I bought several years back and wonder if it's the same company. I couldn't find anything current for the powders but are of  excellent quality.

My local hobby shop just got these paints as well.  Here is an online review I found, pretty high praise!

http://www.internetmodeler.com/scalemodels/nrtools/Mission-Models-Acrylic-Paints.php

As I focus mostly on cars, I emailed the company to see if they have plans to release car colours, this was their response:

"As a matter of fact the car colors will be released in July possibly before then.  We will have them at the IPMS Nationals for sure.   Our auto colors are true pure acrylic automotive grade paints that spray and finish like a lacquer.     There will be about 15 to 20 colors to start.   We have been testing them and they are amazing.   Also 100% odorless".

I'm pretty optimistic about this brand.  I'm definately going to try their auto colours when they get released.

Boy, I am hearing of more new brands of paint from this group recently!

Unfortunately, my main hobby shop is de-emphasizing plastic kits these days, and they are reducing their plastic paint area :-(

Stik,

I've played with them a little and will be doing an in-depth review in an upcoming issue. I like them so far. Easy to spray and the extender is a nice touch for leveling.

Cheers, Aaron

I never heard of it either. Buy one color just for the heck of it out of curiousity and test it out. I know I would if it were me.

Aaron,

You should promote it in the next segment of FSM Product Rundown.

Blacksheep, after reading about the stuff here and elsewhere, I think that is just what I will do. Go buy some and try it out. You cant go wrong with Tire Black, a color they make, which you can use on nearly every build. And they do come in nice "large"1 oz bottles, so the price is not unreasonable. Plenty to work with and experiment with...

Aaron, thanks for the heads up on your upcoming look at the line. I will have to take a peek at that once published.

And anybody else who gets and uses the stuff, please sound off with some experiences here...

Yes, I did that with Vallejo, and frankly have been quite disappointed with the stuff.... I don't understand all the hype for the product. Aside from a large selection, it is not "all that, and a bag of chips too" in my experience.

I use Testors in the small bottle  enamel color called Rubber for tires.

I have that color in my paint supply as well. that color has its uses... but it's more of a dark brown than faded black/dark gray, and looks like a tire covered in brake dust. Great to dust up sidewalls of tires of wheels with brakes... not a good choice for tank track pads and road wheel rims...

Add a tad of black or dark grey to it to change the tone.

Ive done that in the past. Just figuring that if I'm gonna try any color from the new line, Tire Black sounds like a good choice. And if I'm happy with the results, there are many more colors that I will pick up that I saw. Worst case, I'm out the cost of one bottle of paint. Best case I get a whole bunch of new colors that I can use.
