Zero Paint
Posted by J.A. Modelworks on Saturday, March 12, 2022 12:53 AM

I have been interested recently in building model cars and want to try zero paints because I have heard good things about them. I understand that HobbyworldUSA is a distributor, but between their lack of customer service, poor website layout/backordered products I was wondering if there is a good alternative source?

I've ordered things from Hobbyworld USA several times with mostly good experiences. Their site is new and I haven't bought anything yet from it but the old one showed things as being in stock when they wern't which was annoying. As for customedr service he always responded to my emails immediatly. I once cancelled an order because the item wasn't available and it was handled promptly. I'd give them a try.

I have ordered from them before without issue on the old website, but after hearing from some people on facebook as of late talking about unanswered emails and PayPal chargebacks I am a little hesitant. They dont even have pictures for some of their products which is ludicrous.

My last order was over a year ago so I'm not as up to date as some others. If you're unsure then don't order from them

Maybe try MCW for auto paints.  Check them out here: https://mcwfinishes.com/

Thanks,

John

I ordered some things from HobbyWorldUSA over a year ago and was having good luck at first, since their selection of MRP paint was really good and they had almost all of it in stock.  The second time I ordered from them didn't go nearly as well.  One of the items I ordered was in stock, but they only had 1 of them, and I ordered 2.  So, 1 was put on back-order.  No big deal, or so I thought.  They actually billed me for the back-ordered item up-front, which was kind of a questionable business practice, but I went along with it, figuring I would eventually get my item and it would all come out in the wash.  I gave them 6 months, they never got the item back in stock (which was fine, since Sprue Brothers got some back in stock, so I got the remaining item I needed from them).  So, I sent an e-mail to them asking for the item to be shipped or I would like a refund.  They never responded to my e-mail.  The money was never refunded...and as a final "benefit" of my patience in waiting for 6 months, I was also SOL for being able to file a claim with Paypal to get my money back.  Not sure where to tell you to go for Zero Paints, but I definitely would NEVER go there again.

Yeah they really dropped the ball recently. Thank goodness for sprue brothers having MRP which is another paint line I love.
