One of the golden rules of modelling: Everything is visible. If in doubt, paint it.
Sorry to hear about the landing gear. I hate it when that happens.

Italeri Painting Instructions????
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, September 4, 2003 10:04 AM
I am in the process of assemblying the side Nacelles of a V-22 Tilt Rotor Osprey made by Italeri. I am kind of confused. The painting instructions call for flat black and point to the inside of the Nacelle. When I hand hold the assembly together I don'y see how painting the inside matters. Only that I will know its painted. Also, below the rotors calls for Zinch Chromate. This too is covered by a cap that is going to be painted black.

So I have been staring at this assembly and re-reading the instructions for over a week now with no progress because I am not sure whether to paint these "unseen" items or not.

Does anyone have a reason why they do this, or is Italeri known for erratic intsructions. I really want to move on.

The clincher is that I snapped off one of the landing gear wheels when trying to hand hold the assembly to the wing over the fuselage....YIKES!!!!

Thanks!
