Future is useless and very hard to manage.

I, too, have learned to avoid Future, except for dipping clear canopies. My motto is to keep it simple, avoid multiple coats of different mediums.

Its not the Alclad. Its Future. Future turns cloudy and hazy like in your pic above when Micro sol or set is applied over it. Also like you discovered, another coat of Future on top usually makes it go away, but not always in my experience. One of the weird things about Future and why I dislike it.

Thanks for the help! A little Future and a paintbrush was all it took to knock it out.

Try Windex on a Q tip on the blemish area: if the blemish is only  on the Future you should be able to clean it off.

If it truly on the Alcad then you'll probably have to re spray that area after maskin'  the decal etc, etc

Good Luck  HTH

I believe the Alcad site says not to use Mirosol or other decal solvents on  Alclad finishes. Strange though, since you had a coat of Future over the Alclad. You might try just airbrushing another coat of Future. Has worked for me with other (not Alclad) paints when the Microsol discolored the area around the decal.

I have had some problems with decal solvents over Alclad and in fact several other finishes.  Some decal solvents are VERY strong. I never use the stuff unless I absolutely need to. I try to get by with setting solutions alone.  And I never use solvent over Alclad.

Another no-no over Alcad is CA accelerator.  If I have to add a small part with CA after alclad finish, I let it set naturally.

Problems Decaling on Alcad
Posted by Chappy on Friday, March 29, 2013 10:58 AM

Working on my first attempt of an Alcad finish and I'm geting some murky areas on the decals. I've got a coat of Future on top of the Alcad, used Micro Set before applying the decal, and then Micro Sol afterwords. As soon as I put on the Micro Sol, I got this discoloration around this decal. I haven't applied it to any other areas.

Any ideas how to "unblemish" this spot w/o messing up the paint?

Thanks!
