Solid Color Stock?
Posted by DeafAviator on Friday, September 20, 2013 10:13 PM
I want to try using decal stock in solid colors for fine stripes/lines versus trying to mask & paint. Where would be a good source of this stuff?

I've been using Microscale's "Trim Film" line for (literally) decades, with great results. Link here.

Many hobby shops used to carry those solid color decal sheets. I notice lately there is not such a good stock, as I suppose the advent of inkjet decal paper has reduced the need a bit.  If you need dark colors inkjet decals work well, and stripes and stuff are pretty easy to lay out.  Sure do need the colored decal paper for the lighter colors, however.

Perfect - Thanks Greg! That will probably fit the bill just fine - nice price too!

Don, I definitely do agree that inkjet decals can and do work well - I use them all the time. However, I am thinking of having several sheets in various colors for stuff like missles, pinstripes, etc and we would be talking about either a LOT of ink to print a whole sheet one color or a LOT of work to create and print smaller decals every time I needed something specific. So thats why I was thinking it would be pretty great if I could just have a sheet of pro-made solid color that I can just cut out what I need when its needed. Like you said, that would actually be a necessity for the lighter colors, as well.
