Please help......decal removal????
Posted by flygilmore on Thursday, April 24, 2014 11:18 AM

So, put my decals on my 1/72 Fok. DrI and they went on beautifully.  The prob. is that looking back on it, I don't like the white trim around the crosses as it is too white and doesn't match my toned down dirty crossfields.  I put the decals on with Testors Decal Set last night and have not covered them with anything yet.  Can I put more decal set on there and be able to remove them without messing up the plastic or paint?  If not, I will just chalk it up as a learning experience and next time, try and cut out the black crosses and leave off the white boarder.  I guess they do that (Revell) since they figure people will do the plane in red and then the white cross boarders would look appropriate.

Thanks!

Hey Fly,

This may help.  My technical expertise is UNINTENTIONAL decal removal. Simply put tamiya masking tape over the decal you want removed, rub it down to cover the decal area, at room temp, wait a little bit then peel back the tape and voilĂ  your decal is removed without damaging the underlying surface.  Repeat for the stubborn bits.  Hopeful this will please you more than it terrified me!

Tape method worked like a charm!!!  Put on a different set of decals after trimming off the white border and I am quite pleased with the results.  Thanks again!!!!
