1/48th scale decals for "The Bridges at Toko-Ri" F9F-5 Panther
Posted by Drew Cook on Saturday, June 7, 2014 8:02 AM

I've tried for years to score the Revell (Monogram) 1/48th scale kit of the Grumman F9F-5 Panther jet with the decal markings for William Holden's ("Lt. Harry Brubaker") plane in the movie "The Bridges at Toko-Ri," the one with the booklet on the Panther included in it.  I just missed one on Ebay, and they're usually pretty pricey, even when found.

I've got the earlier Monogram kit of the Panther, but need those movie decals of "Brubaker's" plane.

Does anyone know if an aftermarket source reproduced those "movie" decals for this plane? Or would anyone care to part with the decal sheet from this kit?

Thanks.

Honestly if you are having trouble finding them, most likely so is everyone else. You might just have to pony up and pay for them. I dont believe anyone has reproduced them but that leads me to my next point.......have you tried doing it yourself? Getting some decal printer paper and printing them up? May take a few tries to get them just right, but when you do you can print extra in case you fudge a few during application AND you can start selling em on ebay yourself. Just a thought and an idea to make a little cash. And if you do pony up and buy the real set off ebay, be sure to scan the entire sheet into your computer before application. Then you can print out copies and sell em!!

Superscale made a sheet many years back, but it is OOP. It had a different nose number than the one on the film, but it did have his name on the fuselage side beneath the cockpit. I used it on my build of that kit a couple years back.
