99.9% of silvering is caused of poor quality decsls. It is very hard to fix.I often micro spot paint the area. Also use mon- spar varnish that will get rid of that problem.

I don't use a MM clear flat.  But I have zero problem with Tamiya decals and Vallejo or W&N flat varnishes.  Actually, those flat varnishes make a little bit of silvering completely disappear.

Tamiya Decals silvering only after flat coat

I've been having trouble with Tamiya decals on my 1/35 scale M4A3 Sherman 75mm. Fortunately, I've been testing the decals on scrap, so I haven't ruined my model. This happens only with Tamiya decals--all other brands work great.  But no matter what I do, the Tamiya decals silver when I apply a clear flat (MM acryl).

I undercoated all my test decals with future or other gloss varnish. I've tried microset/sol, I've tried solvaset, even Humbrol's decal fix.  I've tried overcoating with future before the flat coat. I've also tried poking holes in the decal film. All methods have the same result--they show no signs of silvering until after I apply the flat clear. Again, other brands of decals work great and look painted on.  Only the Tamiya decals silver.

Has anyone else had this experience with Tamiya decals? Are there alternative decals available for "Classy Peg"?
