Studio 27 decals question(S)
Posted by ifeliciano on Monday, April 6, 2015 1:44 PM

I just recently got back into modeling after a long hiatus. I decided on a large scale 1/12 car to allow me to get re-acquainted with the hobby and at least have parts be large enough to handle easier.

The kit I purchased came with an extra set of decals made by studio 27 and are somewhat different than the "usual" decals I've used in the past. The decal sheet has a plastic protective film that I assume is removed after cutting the decal and prior to soaking. I notice that there is another very thin clear layer of film over the actual decal that comes off after the decal has adhered to the model's surface.

The problem i'm facing is that when the very thin layer of clear film comes off, it peels small portions of the decal, and leaves flakes behind.

Any tips for the Studio 27 decals?

Use distilled water which quickly loosens the film to the bottom of the water tray.
