Academy decals are very thin. Also you can spray or brush liquid decal film to help in performance.

I just completed such a project and had a small problem sliding and positioning the decal on the model.Very stubborn decals.Go after market from Super Scale or any other co.

Gamera

Are your decals Cartograph? I read that Academy had so many complaints about the F-86 decals and they had Cartograph making them on the newer releases.

Personally I've never had any problems with Academy decals. Aftermarket ones would probably work better but the kit ones should be ok.

I've been working on the Academy F-86 and frankly the decals so far have working fine for me. I've only put on the yellow stripes and they don't match perfectly but I've never seen any decals like this that worked all that well. I should have masked and sprayed them on but stupidly thought I'd give them a go.

Question about Academy "Putt Putt Maru" decals

Has anyone used the decals for the 1/48 P-38J Academy kit #2126 "Putt Putt Maru"?  I'm about to start working on this model and wonder if the decals are any good. The sheet says printed in Japan on the back.

I have heard that some of the older Academy decals are junk, like the ones in the 1/48 F-86-F-30 #2162.
