Yellowed white
Posted by Johnef on Thursday, June 11, 2015 12:49 PM
Recently, I brought out my collection of "completed" 1/20 sc. Formula 1 models and noticed that the decals that are white have turned yellow. Any solution on bring back the white?

On the models!

No experience with that. When they yellow on the sheet, they are usually easy to restore by prolonged exposure to sunlight. As in a couple of weeks.

I'd say pick your least favorite model and give it a try. In a sunny south facing window.

I suppose if you are worried about the rest of the model, you could make some crude paper masks to cover say the rubber tires and so on.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Tape them to a window that gets direct sunlight. The sun will bleach them out. Keep checking on them to see if the decals have turned to the shade you want. Be careful though. it will bleach all the other colors as well.
