Using. Swastikas and nazi symbols

Because this thread has now descended into mild profanity and is basically on the verge of all out argument, we're locking it down until at least Monday morning. We'll decide what to do with it then.

UPDATE Having read the thread, especially the last couple of posts, I'm leaving it locked. And I would add to all members, if you have to add spacing or special characters to use a word that the system will not allow you to post, DON'T USE THE WORD. This is the only warning I am offering to the participants in this thread. If it happens again, the offenders accounts willbe moderated for the forseeable future.

What he said! There is NO political correctness! This is nothing more than a lame-assed excuse to cry and whine about other peoples' opinions, or point of view, way of life, etc. This was started by the advertising imbeciles of L.A. that are too stupid for thier own damned good to look up the proper definition in the dictionary! These are the same people who'll p i s s down your leg, and tell you it's raining! No sir - don't worry about it. Some day God's going to have his way with everyone so don't give it a second thought.

Update, well i have a lot of projects in the works right now, so my mad " von semi" max project( not very germanish lol) is on the end of the list, but is just about ready for the decal, i wil get pictures out here next couple of days of where its at now, i now have to find pictures for the decals!. Oh ya i am going to go through with the decals!!. I apprecite everyones comments, it wS much easier to make my decision.

Any updates on the Semi? I'm anxious to see the finished product.

If you have your own office or cubicle at work and choose to display it there,that could be a problem,or if as was previously discussed,perhaps a model show taking place in a Jewish Center would be offensive.

if models are your art, and art belongs to the artist it should not be censored. If you use it for hate stuff you should be ready for blowback, but if it is a fantasy vision then go ahead. art is free from political correctness. so are posts.

Another reason I avoid shows. I just have fought my way to where I am in life on basic principles. I try not to be offensive and try not to be offended. The question you posed was a good one, I just don't think your problem would be political correctness whatever that means. Your problem will be outspoken opinion of a few.

It's a Science Fiction subject. Fiction, people!

That being said, if you really do have a worry, It can't hurt to ask. Email a picture to the organizers.

So because this was not a typical ww 1 or 2 diorama, that it might be pushing the envelope. When i enter this summer, it will not stand out so much that they(the shows) will take it out

Discussions like this, especially those that call out "political correctness" are bound to end in an argument. This issue has been discussed endlessly here and elsewhere. Please keep the conversation civil and non-political. As far as the OP, there is nothing stopping you from building your model as you wish, just as anyone who builds Luftwaffe aircraft or World War II armor applies swastikas, so can you. The only time it will likely be an issue is if you decide to display the model in one of the countries where Nazi symbols are banned by law.

Thanks ya i think i will,  i will post pictures here when i can. I am currently in a bunch of projects going. On the up side there looking like they will be wrapping things up soon.

Go for it. If somone takes offense, the problem is theres, not yours. I have certainly never had an issue with it on this site, the model club or any shows i have taken models to.

Well for me i do care, its up to you and everyone elese to do what you want. I was just trying to see from the model builders view and there experince with this subject how people reacted. There is still alot of people that have a very appointed view of this.

Complaining about "Political correctness" is nonsense. It's an excuse for callng out opinions you don't agree with.

There's no "political correctness" argument I've ever seen here that argues against what you propose.

To me it is curious that you would even care about what people say. I generally don't, within reasonable boundaries. I personally am not afraid of other peoples opinions.

Thanks, ya i felt the same, but i am aware how senstive people are to it. I look at our model building as art!, and art gets a by!. I was going to paint the trailer( with one side cut out) gloss black, then have a flag run the length of the truck in a ruffeled folded pattren. The cab same with nazi flags on the doors, with flying flags at the bumpers and atop the cab

It's your model and who cares what everyone says. I say go for it. I can't stand all the political correctness these days. Too many folks getting too soft and offended easily. I'd love to see what you've got done.
