Think age has a lot to do with it. I've got a couple Super Scale sheets that were origional issue and finally opened them to use. Turned out all you had to do was to think about water and they cracked and fell off the paper. Even Super Scale Decal film wouldn't cure them.

If their not sealed their will dry out. When their dry out they tend to want to shrink but since there are essential glued down or fixed in place stresses build up in the decal and they crack..

Usually it's an age-related problem. Occasionally it's just poor quality control.

Not sure what causes that but I have read that putting a coat or two of clear over them will prevent it.

Not sure on this but i think that it is with the decal varnish becoming brittle with age ...Greg
