Thought I'd show how nice self adhesive shelf paper (like Contact) is for benchtop. Just finished my Flapjack yesterday, and ready for a new kit. Benchtop was the usual mess, little bits of Tamiya tape, spilled paint, glue drops, etc. So, peeled off the old paper-vinyl actually.
20 minutes later, voila! Nice new (and cheap) benchtop.
I used a brand from Menards, Peel & Stick, a bit cheaper than Contact, and a nice plain white.

Looks good... for the time being once it gets all cut up, spilled paint, etc...
Why not add a sheet of glass or plexiglass on top to extend the life of it? Just a thought...
I think the point is the easy removal and replacement when it gets messed up. That's it's purpose.

Good idea. It's like at a finer restaurant. A previous customer drools on it, they change the table cloth. New build, new sheet. I like it. Hurry up and get it dirty though. I find all that cleanliness distracting.

It's already dirty. Starting a Tamiya 1:72 Zero A6M5. Was hand painting a few handles in the cockpit with small bottle of flat black, brush painting. Knocked the bottle over! Fortunately near front of desk, so not much desktop area painted, but it got the front of my nice chair! And, my parts-catching apron.

Snack. I always keep snackfood at my workbench. Helps me keep from clenching my jaws together when working with photoetch :-)

Did it again! Spilled half a MM Gunmetal jar! Big mess this time- cut a new piece of vinyl and stuck it down over stain. This is getting old quick. Knocking and dropping things all the time around the house too. Maybe I'd better check with doc.
