Home-made paintbrush rest
Posted by the Baron on Friday, March 01, 2019 4:52 PM

Recently, in a Facebook modeling group I belong to, someone showed a paintbrush rest he made from a piece of wire and a scrap block of wood.  He shaped the wire into a series of S-curves, like a flat furniture spring, and the brushes rested in the bends.

I made one myself, but wasn't happy with it.  So it occurred to me to make a rest with some putty.  I used Apoxie Sculpt for these, and finished them with some gloss white Krylon enamel:

I was thinking of chopstick rests that I have seen.  These make it a little easier to pick up brushes from the bench during a painting session.  And this little project satisfied my urge to make stuff myself.

Thanks for looking, and best regards,

Brad

That’s using your noggin, Baron. It’s simple, but effective.

You can also take a strip of wood, bore a series of holes in a line and then slice through the holes with a saw.

I type on a tablet. Please excuse the terseness and the autocorrect. Not to mention the erors.
