Yup - I know. One thing I read somewhere, with Mr. Dissolved and Mr. Surfacer: store them upside down, and then when you're ready to work with them they're ready to go.

Mr. Dissolved always has clear spots and opaque spots, no matter how much you mix it. It's like bits of dissolved putty (go figure) in a "soup" of carrier. What I've noticed, is that this actually works well like this, because the putty settles down into the cracks and crannies. So I think it's supposed to look like this, and no matter how much I mixed mine it remained like this.

Still works great though.

Let me know how it turns out. It worked great on my seams, and settle down nicely into the cracks.

How long should we mix the "disolved putty"?

I have used it a few times, and it seems to lay down as a clear with spots of white...

Last few times I have mixed it for a long time with the badger paint mixer, but still have the same result. It works but looks weird...

Cheers

I don't think it's better, so much as just different.

I had the same issues with filling small areas with Mr Surfacer as you, so tried the dissolved putty. It's just better suited to major seam filling than Mr Surfacer, where as Mr Surfacer is better for small repairs.

Mr. Surfacer vs. Mr. Dissolved Putty?

Hey there folks - I have a question for anyone familiar with these two products. I've been using the Mr. surfacer products for a while now - 500 for filling smallish gaps, and 1000/1200 for priming. The 500 works o.k. if the gap is really small, but I find myself having to apply multiple layers, and then when I try and remove the excess with lacquer thinner/Mr. Color thinner I end up often removing too much!

So I picked up this Mr. Dissolved Putty, and it seems fairly similar to Mr. Surfacer 500.

Has anyone used these two, and what's the advantage of one over the other? At first glance, Mr. Dissolved appears to be a little thicker, and to fill a bit better (in spots). Both are lacquer based, I guess, so both will thin/be removed the same way.

But I'm trying to figure out if this Mr. Dissolved works better/worse than Mr. Surfacer in any/all applications.

Muchos gracias - Jon
