I understand you're joking, but I'll clarify for other folks. I actually mis-labelled in the tag for that part. The real name is " Groundfire over-ride switch ". It's enclosed in a small sheetmetal box ( about 2-1/2" square and about 1-1/2" thick ) that is mounted on the strut and attached to the top link of the scissor links by an articulating flat metal bar ( about 1/8th inch thick by about 1/2 inch wide ). When the A/C was on the ground. the switch would interrupt the electrical circuit from the gunfire control solenoid to the guns. When on the harmo range to boresight the guns, that scissor link would be disconnected and the top half held down with a bungy cord so the guns could be fired. We'd also do that when checking the guns and missile rails power circuits during weapons loading operations. The Hun was the first A/C I worked on out of tech school, back in 1967 at Luke AFB, AZ. On the F-4 Phantoms, that switch was located on the left main gear and referred to as the " Squat Switch".
Before a bunch of F-4 guys point out that the Phantoms before the " E " model didn't have guns, I'll simply point out that they did carry a buuuuuch of missiles and gun pods; and I think they could carry the Genie rocket. That switch cut all power to those firing circuits. ( just as it did on the Hun )
