Thanks for posting the great pics! It's nice to see how some of the vehicles at APG are getting repainted.

For those interested in the M10, please be advised that the one pictured is incorrect for a WW II vehicle. The APG M10 is a post-war Italian Army vehicle. It was converted from either a diesel or a Ford V8 to a Continental radial engine by the Italians during the 1950's and when retired, was given back to the U.S. Therefore, the engine deck, lower rear hull, exhausts, and air cleaner boxes shown in the pics are not correct for a WW II M10.

Oh how I miss the Ordnance Museum. The only thing that is there now is grass and weeds and a plane. It's a shame really.

What the heck??  Is the Aberdeen PG museum no more????  Only got the chance to visit it once.  What happened to all the vehicles that they had on display??

Sad, really.

When the ordnance school moved to Fort Lee, Virginia so did the museum Dave. I haven't seen anything on the Fort Lee webpage about the museum being done yet, which is sad.

Wow, Panzer!  Who knew? I retired from the Army in 2014 and somehow missed this move.  Luckily, Ft. Lee is a lot closer to me that APG!  They had a great number of siginificant armored vehicles and I hope that they're put on display soon.  Thanks so much for the info!!

No problem at all. I looked at Fort Lee's webpage and they have some of the stuff sitting out from what it looks like. When the wife and I are coming back from Myrtle Beach I might have to make a pit stop there lol.

I miss the place too. I live about 20 minutes away and went there several times. I really regret not being able to take my grandsons there. I doubt very much that the museum that they had envisioned being bult will ever get done, at least not without the donation of a wealthy benefactor. At the very least, I hope that they can get the vehicles under cover and out of the weather. And if that's not possible, then auction them off like they did when the Normandy museum shut down.

The problem when it was here at A.P.G wasn't the money, it was the base itself. They wouldn't let them build the facility to store them indoors where they needed to be.

If you ever find yourself in Austin, Texas and need to fill some time, please check out The Texas Military Force Museum at Camp Mabry.

The exact same thing happened to the Patton Museum of Armor and Cavalry at Fort Knox. When the armor center moved to Fort Benning, all the various armor pieces moved there as well. While the Patton Museum remains at Knox, it is a shadow of its former self. It used to be worth hundreds of miles and hours on the road for an armor modeler to visit. Today, it's hard to recommend a detour off of I-65 even though the round trip off the interstate and back is less than 25 miles.

Joint Base Lewis-McChord up here near Tacoma are currently remodeling their museum. It's closed til January 2017, but I'm looking forward to getting in there when they do open it. Looks like they have some interesting pieces parked outside as well.

As a kid I lived in the housing area adjacent to the museum '68-'71 and the "field of tanks" was our playground at times. When we played Army we played using real tanks! The on-site museum building hadn't been built yet, so it was just an open field filled with armor and artillery pieces. Some of the tanks even had hatches that were not welded shut and several of the artillery pieces, including the German 88 millimeter howitzer we're able to be elevated and traversed. Apparently some passersby noticed that the kids from my housing area were out there having way too much fun and the military police stationed a daily guard out there to walk amongst the tanks with a rifle slung over his shoulder. I never understood why the guard was armed considering he would never dare to use deadly force to keep the kids away from the tanks.
