Book on castle model building?
Posted by RichardRBarrett on Saturday, February 2, 2013 9:56 AM

Hi,

Many years ago I found what seemed to be a very useful book on building scale models of castles from scratch. I do not remember the title, but I am interested in building model castles with my son and would like to either find the book or find an equivalent reference. I have done Amazon and Google Books searches on virtually every combination of search terms I can think of, and not only have I not found the book, I haven't really found any books that strike me as terribly useful for what I'm wanting to do. If anybody has any suggestions, I'd be very appreciative.

Thanks,

Richard

hey richard

don't know what kind of castles. i seem to recall a book years and tears ago too. maybe you could start with books on seige warfare or the crusaders. lots of crusader casrles. the moors in spain. i think there wetre some paper models which could be a good start too.

maybe children's books www.yourchildlearns.com/castle.htm

would be a start.

now i'm curious and i really don't need yet another "interest." keep us posted on what references you find.

There's is a company called "the castle works company" .I built one of  those years ago using only thin plywood and celluclay. That may be what you were thinking of. Lately I've been playing with some molds by  an outfit called hirst arts ,they sell molds designed for plaster of Paris  .these things are wonderful ,especially  dioramas on various scales
