Rivet plans
Posted by Gigantor on Monday, December 12, 2016 12:49 PM

So I've got into the habit of self riveting my planes. I know it's not always the most realistic as far as scale but I really like the way it looks but its hard to find good detailed blueprints of every plane online. I was wondering if anyone knew of a website that's full of detailed blueprints or any reading material so that I can find quality blueprints to accurately rivet my planes.

I can't say for all of their books, but some of the "Detail & Scale" books have the rivet information.

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

There are some old books by scale drawing masters like Bill Wylam and Paul Matt.  Back in the day, flying model magazines used to feature, every month, used to feature scale drawings of an aircraft by guys like that.  The drawings were so revered that publishers would gather a bunch of the individual drawings and compile them in a book.

One recent republishing of Matt drawings is still available.  It is a 2-volume set titled Paul Matt Scale Aircraft Drawings. I got my copies about two years ago from Amazon.  You may still be able to find used copies of other works by those guys- they are the best known of their breed.

I also rivet my planes. I have never had very good luck finding blueprints showing the location of rivets. I just search the Internet for photos of planes.

Following are before and after photos of rivets on my B-29:

Try here.  It has a lot of planes and a lot of info and blueprints, etc.  Some is in Russian (it is a Russian site), but I found a lot in English there as well.
