Thanks Mark. I actually already have the book :-)

It was his pics of the XP-40 that inspired me to build it as my next build. My current build was supposed to be the XP-40...but I just could not gather the reference pics. I ended up doing a "factory fresh" B model.

I recently finished a "factory fresh" P-51 and a P-47.

Thanks. Now I am hunting for some decals...Id like to do the pre-war tail feathers on this P-40.

Jeff Ethell's book, "P-40 Warhawk in WWII Color," has some nice color photos of early P-40s, including one of the XP-40.  Although there don't appear to be any 'factory fresh' pictures, there are several pre-war ones.

Early P-40 ref. pics?

Anyone know where I might be able to find some reference pictures of early P-40's? (X, B, C). I would love to see pictures of "Factory fresh" or pre-war aircraft.

I have been "googling" and "yahooing" for a couple of months now with not much luck. I even spent an entire day in the USAF Museum in Dayton, OH and did not come up with much.

Thanks for any help! :)
