I like that concept a lot. Your pictures are always fun to look at. We've been in the 70s and 80s the last few days. Absolutely gorgeous weather. This week is the week leading up to the Kentucky Derby on Saturday....still warm enough, but clouds, rain, t-storms, potential for severe weather and all that. Twenty-five years ago, we had sleet/snow on Derby Day (first Saturday in May). I think that was the year that Howard Cosell's toupee almost blew off! while he was on TV.

I still have not done a photo outside yet this spring. The snow has melted, but now have dark clouds, wind, and rain.
Even though plastic models have a fairly high wing loading, the wind this spring has been more than strong enough to pick up the models and blow them off the table!
Tarasdad, I think you misunderstand my backdrops. I go to airports, race tracks, and other places where the stuff I model would be found, and on a sunny day take pictures. I then get or make large prints. These prints make the backdrops for my models. Here is an example of the result.

Using outdoor backdrops for me means doing nothing but desert subjects. Sand, rocks, desert brush in spades. Grass? Fuggedaboutit, can't afford that much water!

I feel for you, Don. It's tough when we can start seeing grass showing (albeit brown grass) and get excited, only for more snow to spoil the fun.
Me, don't know when I've been so happy over two days of rain here in northern IN.
Storm warnings up again! We're supposed to get 6 to 9 inches in Twin Cities.

Don, can't you use a couple of silver screens to concentrate light from one direction to simulate strong sunlight? I've 'added' light with flat white panels before. Unfortunately, you have to really concentrate on direction and angle, or it does look fake. But that might help during the dark winter months in the Great White North.

It'll be in the 70's all week, Don. Not to rub it in or anything
So this storm is your fault, huh Don?
Be happy with only an inch of snow. Estimates for my area of North Dakota are 12"-18". Hopefully this will be the last hurrah of the never ending winter!

I tempted fate by being joyful! An inch of fresh snow is coming tonight, another inch Thursday. Highs will be in mid thirties this week, so we'll see if snow or heat wins :-( It got to sixty yesterday. I should have been out taking pics instead of in workshop. Guess I missed the chance for awhile. It is overcast today with rain due any moment.
I need a solar simulator, but remember the big bucks the companies I worked for spent to make those things!
I do a lot of realistic model photography where I use backdrops and sunlight for illumination. That means in Minnesota weather I cannot take that kind of picture of recently built models! This has been a long winter, and finally the snow is melting! I see areas of my backyard big enough to take out my card table and backdrop support and take pictures!
