Storage Box
Posted by jelliott523 on Monday, December 1, 2014 6:50 PM
On another thread we were just discussing some of the strangest boxes or containers that models were stored in. I brought up that I had been using the containers that Swiffer wet-mop pads come in. They are about 14"L x 6"W x 4"H. They have a clear snap on lid that is fairly secure. They can be stacked and are sturdy enough that they can withstand a fair amount of weight. Definitely better than just sending them out to the trash.

Maybe its just me but I've noticed more and more products coming in plastic or metal containers instead of cheap cardboard or paper. Lots of food related items. Like lunch meats that come in a tub with a resealable lid. Ground coffee in round plastic containers. Cookies in neat little metal cans and boxes.

I use them for storage or mixing of materials (paint, plaster, purple cleaner) that I trash after use. Also more cool containers of all sorts can be found at the dollar type stores.

mitsdude - I use the smaller tubs as well, like the lunch meat containers (I do need a snack while modeling-- LOL)  Actually, I do use them quite often.  To store decals in, small parts and I've event got one that I lined with paper towels that I can put canopies that I have dipped in Future to dry without worrying about dust getting on them while they dry.

I found a neat plastic box with separate compartments that are handy for separating and storing things like landing gear components, bombs, fuel tanks, etc. The port/starboard compartments keeps me from getting them mixed up.  It contained a small external hard drive.
