LEGOS

I know , What ?

I am doing some 1/96 scale torpedo launchers . Quintuple mounts , for my client's U.S.S.Kidd . The metal ones he had gotten and had sent direct to me , upon inspection weren't useable at all . At least Not without massive re- working .

So , I chose to scratch build the things .Well , I needed something for the domed doors at the back of each tube . Looking around and finding nothing , My eyes fastened on my LEGO parts .

I took one of the little ( as they call it ,1x1 round plate ) or as I call it a button  , and proceeded to sand it to see if it would work without me sanding through the top of the lug on top . Viola ! One tube door !

The decision made I sanded and cut all the parts and put these little modified " Buttons " on the end of the tubes .Boy do they look good with the hinge and latch in place !

Again Outside the box thinking saved me , Thanks - LEGO !
