John R. Sims
Jacksonville, Florida

In 1984, Bruce McCandless II was the first astronaut to perform an untethered EVA (extravehicular activity), using his MMU (manned maneuvering unit) to float around the space shuttle Challenger without being tied down. John gave the EVA Models 1/32 scale figure a camera, corrected the placement of some straps, then put it in action over a homemade base with an earth image he printed from his computer.
