“This is a kitbash of Tamiya’s 1/16 scale RC M4 Sherman with a Mato VVSS suspension, converted early-style front glacis plate and crew hatches, and custom-made 75mm gun, mantlet, and rotor shield,” says Ethan. “The kit belonged to a member of the Phoenix-based DAK RC club who passed away in 2010. I completed it, and now it’s a functioning memorial. The tank is nicknamed Dugster in his memory and is finished in a whitewashed paint scheme to represent a 4th Armored, 37th Tank Battalion vehicle during the Battle of the Bulge.” Ethan painted and weathered the tank with Tamiya acrylics and photographed it on a bed of baking soda snow at the RC club’s battlefield.
