“This is a diorama/salvage job,” Dave says, “using a Hobbycraft 1/48 scale birdcage Corsair, a picture frame, wood paneling, and four figures from various Monogram kits.” He rummaged through back issues of FineScale Modeler for assorted building tips, such as a picture-frame base, motorizing with pager buzzers, painting figures, and “Wiring 101.” “Did I forget to mention that it’s motorized?” he asks. “I just couldn’t bear to throw away a good model (broken prop shaft), so I experimented and here are the results.” Dave’s sister took the photo.
