Steven Kielfer
Burglengenfeld, Bavaria, Germany

It took Steven nearly two years to build Eduard’s 1/48 scale “Shark mouths over China” P-40N/M, although, he says, “I also took a break to move into our new house and finish my new workshop during the build.” A lot of it had to do with the level of detailing, too: He used additional Eduard photoetched metal; True Details wheels and cockpit; a Squadron canopy; and Moskit exhausts. Also, he scratchbuilt modifications to: wheel wells and landing gear wells; air and oil cooler intake scoop; tail wheel; machine-gun barrels; blast tubes and machine-gun wing fairings; and a drop tank. He used wire for brake lines and rebuilt the oleo scissors. Markings include a Pyn-up decals set. “I chose to build this version because I love the nose art and the look of the P-40N,” he says.
