John detailed Comet Miniatures’ 1/8 scale Dalek as seen in the “Doctor Who” episode “Genesis of the Daleks.” His modifications: annealed wire replaces plastic rods surrounding the gun barrel; LEDs for the solid-plastic dome lights; a scratchbuilt eyestalk; thinner sheet styrene for the microwave dish between the arms; and a fiberglass-mesh collar. A mixture of Gunze Sangyo RLM 75 and RLM 81 “seemed pretty close to the gray, semigloss sheen of the ‘Genesis’ Dalek,” he says. “This one just rolled off the assembly line, so I left it unweathered,” he adds.
