Jeff calls this scene, “Houston, it’s full of stars.” He says, “This is pure fantasy, of course. Apollo astronauts encounter the monolith from ‘2001: A Space Odyssey.’ I used various grades of crushed gray rock from a local construction site, attaching it with scenic cement. The figures are Dragon 1/24 scale; I adjusted the arm locations. Helmet faceplates are painted gold and coated with clear gloss. I got the monolith on Amazon. The instruments come from a long-out-of-production educational item from the early Apollo days. I cleaned them up, repainted, and accurized them a bit. All the painting is with Testors enamels. I wanted to try something other than the typical kits. One of my favorite topics is the space program, and I am a big science fiction fan. Purists will probably pick the details to death, but I had lots of fun combining these things in a space fantasy.”
