Tom Becking, Taylors, South Carolina

Tom says he built Tamiya’s 1/35 scale M4A3 late-production Sherman with 75mm gun “as a tribute to my grandfather, Carl M. Schneider, who served in the U.S. Third Army in World War II under Gen. George S. Patton. He was a CWO, spoke German fluently, and was often given assignments behind enemy lines. He passed away in 2001.” Tom used cardboard from the kit box to enclose the lower hull and raised an antenna of .009" guitar string. He says: “The tank is finished with Krylon spray-can primer (rust), Testors Model Master enamel, Future floor polish, and Testors Dullcote. The base is a standard picture frame. The snow is baking soda; I made mud using the recipe by Aaron Skinner in the October 2012 FSM.”
