Richard bought an Airfix 1/72 scale DC-3 around supper time on a Thursday at the 2013 IPMS/USA Nationals in Loveland, Colorado, and had it built and painted before supper on Friday so he could enter it in the contest. “I bought some modeling supplies just before the closest hobby shop closed at 6,” he says. “My brother had an airbrush and compressor, which worked great in the hotel bathroom! Piedmont Airlines decals by Flying Colors were purchased at the show and applied just in time.” No word from Richard on a trophy, but that seems beside the point. He says, “I love classic Airfix kits, and my father was a navigator in the Douglas C-47 during World War II!”
