Robert Pierson

Dakota Dunes, South Dakota

In a scene he calls “Sneak Attack,” Robert rusted up a Tamiya 1/35 scale SdKfz 7/1 8-ton halftrack Flakvierling with hairspray weathering on the hood and fenders, then parked it on a Woodland Scenics bridge surrounded by groundwork and Realistic Water (also from Woodland Scenics). While some of the figures scan the skies for aircraft, others take to the water to fish for a trout snipped from a charm bracelet — as does a bear from Hobby Lobby. Robert says, “The most tedious and challenging task in this project was scratchbuilding the fishing pole, reel, and line. The rod guides are fine wire rolled around tweezers. I think I broke four pieces of sprue trying to get a believable bend in the rod.”
